If your OneDrive account is low on available space, manually delete any unnecessary files from your OneDrive storage (including any failed notebook uploads) and then try importing the notebook folder again.
The current process is to log into both Onenote for Windows 10 and Onenote (2016) and after a few minutes the onenote4W10 notes will show up in the Onenote 2016 app and you can save and export as usual there.

Don't get ahead of yourself by wondering how to use OneNote just yet, though. You'll be taught everything in due time. Besides, how can you start using OneNote if you don't even know how to download and install it?
The second method is slower because you have to download and install the entire Microsoft Office suite since OneNote is part of it, but besides, you get all the other apps that come along with the suite.
If, on the other hand, you sign in with a work or school account, you'll see a button with slightly different words on the Office 365 home page: "Install Office apps". Click this button and then click on "Office 365 apps". This starts the download.
5. The "Microsoft Office installer.pkg" file will be in the folder. Double-click it. If you see a prompt warning you the file is from an unidentified developer, just ignore it and count 10 seconds; copy the downloaded pkg file to your desktop. Double-click on the file again.
While it was pointed out earlier, OneNote doesn't have a save option in the traditional sense because it auto-saves everything for you, regardless of size. But you can bypass this by saving your notes as PDF files or exporting them to people so they see your notes but don't actually have access to them. Do this:
OneNote is a great application when it comes to arranging your files neatly and making them easily accessible to you but you won't see all that when you're constantly being bombed by errors, will you? You'll be so frustrated that you might even find the software to be terribly annoying.
The most common errors can crash your OneNote crashing or make it unresponsive, either on startup or while in use. It gets worse when OneNote gets drunk and decides to start acting up; it fails to sync; it shows you that you're not connected to the internet; it doesn't allow you to search for your files; so many issues.
Microsoft OneNote is one of the best note-taking applications for Windows, Mac, and mobile devices. You can use OneNote application (freely) on tablets, phones, and computers to capture ideas, create to-do lists, and even set reminders. Do you know that PDF files can be converted into OneNote file format? While this is not specifically popular, it is doable with proper tools. Now let's dive more into the guide on how to convert PDF to OneNote or import, open PDF in OneNote.
If you need to edit text, fill forms, add images, make annotation and do more on your PDF files, you can use Wondershare PDFelement - PDF Editor. It's an easy-to-use yet powerful PDF editor that can edit, convert, protect, sign, combine, split and manage PDF. Download it to have a try.
At this point of writing, the file format for OneNote is also supported by Outline. The outline is a note-taking application for iPad and Mac, and it can open files that are formatted with OneNote file format.
If you are looking for a good, all-in-one PDF editor and converter, you don't have to look far. Wondershare PDFelement - PDF Editor is one of the best in the market today. It comes with a whole range of professional tools to help you edit, transform and manage your PDF files. The following table provides release history information and download links for Office for Mac. The table is ordered by release date, with the most recent release date listed first. The build date is listed in parentheses, in a YYMMDD format, after the version number. All releases after August 22, 2016 are 64-bit only. All releases prior to August 22, 2016 are 32-bit only.
As for other applications. The only other program like this I tried was Evernote. But I was disappointed that it would not import styled text. So you lose all your formatting (tables, lists, pictures). The only way I found to import OneNote files into Evernote was to paste a screen shot of the page, hardly a good solution.
Well, here is a one way to open a Windows OneNote notebook in the OSX version of Onenote. I am particularly interested in opening a Notebook located on a Sharepoint server in a corporate environment and this met my needs. This article describes the technique: -sharepoint-onenote-notebook-onenote-mac/ Basically one must open the notebook in a windows machine, grab a link to an object in the notebook, send the link to the mac and then click on the link.
I upgraded OneNote on Windows to the latest version. In the installation process, it says files of old version failed to convert, but that's fine. Once you're done with the installation, open the software where you can find the old OneNote files. Click on property of each notes, convert it to the 2013 version, sync it. Then go back to your Mac; now you can find those notes in the cloud.
Don't worry about import/export. Make sure you are using the latest version possible on both platforms, and store the Windows OneNote files in the cloud (OneDrive). This will also allow you to access it using the web version. Then invite yourself to share this OneNote notebook with an email address from your Mac You should now be able to get at the content in OneNote on the Mac and edit/move it as required.
As you store business ideas, snippets and other information in your Microsoft OneNote notebook, it saves that information in multiple files in a folder automatically. If your business has a Google Docs account, now also called Google Drive, you can upload these files to your account and access them later from any location that has an Internet connection. Before you can save a OneNote notebook on Google Docs you will need to discover the folder on your hard drive that contains the notebook's files.
Click that button to open the Save As window and move to the Address bar at the top of the window. This window contains the full path name to the folder that holds the files that make up the current notebook.
Press "Enter." The window switches to the folder that contains your OneNote notebook's files and displays them in the window. Click the first file in the folder, hold down your "Ctrl" key and click the remaining files to highlight them.
Click "Open" to view the Upload Settings dialog pop-up window. Remove the check mark from the check box that reads "Convert Documents, presentations, spreadsheets and drawings to the corresponding Google Docs format" and click "Start Upload." Wait as Google Docs uploads files. You will see your OneNote files in your new folder when the upload completes.
Recovering deleted OneNote files is possible because the note-taking software comes with several data recovery features. Should they fail, you can still attempt to recover deleted OneNote pages and notes using native backup and restore tools or third-pam recovery software.
Both Windows and macOS feature native data backup capabilities to protect important files against deletion. The data backup solution in the latest version of Windows is called File History, while macOS has Time Machine.
You can back up your own ONE files to a ONEPKG file through the program's File > Export > Notebook menu option. Just choose to export the notebook to a OneNote Package file.
ONEKPG files are an exception when it comes to renaming the file extension and still having the file work like it does. Most file types cannot just be renamed to something else and still function normally in the program that opens it. DOCX files, for example, can't be renamed to PDF and expected to be opened and readable in a PDF reader.
