Fujifilm Frontier Fe Software: How to Install and Update the Latest Version

Hi, I have the ussual frontier 355 software that runs the FE-FRONTEND conputer on xp, and the scaner on win nt i think. Now my question is, What computer is needed to run the new windows 7 software for bouth the scaner and the frontend, where can i but this software (with install instructions) and whats the price of it?

Fujifilm Frontier Fe Software

Thank you all for the replies, but my computer for the scaner and the frontend is OLD and i mean OLD! it cant even run windows 7, let alone the fuji software. I wanted to change the comps, thats why i asked for hardware config also

Yes, it is possible. But, you should install on SP FE software. Normally, you should have a1 v1.7 or 1.8 on SP. Then you should make 2 backup disks. Make reinstallation of MCU on SP and then reinstallation S1 on SP with 2 disks. Installation of DIC is the same.

I also have a 340, and I am interested in upgrading to FE. I currenlty are using C4/5 on windows 2003 server. Can this FE software run side by side with c4/5 on the same PC? Does the software inside the Printer itself, need to changed?

If my understanding is correct, I can install FE software onto an XPpro PC and it should operate the Frontier 340 as a replacement for the C4/5. I hear that the colour correction options on FE are far superior than c4/5?

If you have SP3000 only ( stand alone scanner without minilab ) you do not need all FE software modules you mentioned. Some modules are for printer and other for FMPC only. So if you have not printer and FMPC then do not need their software too.

You can make hard disc image if remove hard disc and connect to some other computer where installed some disc cloning software. For example I use Acronis true image on my laptop. To connect hard disc use IDE/SATA - USB converter. Hard disc power connected from external power supply. If do not want remove hard disc then can boot computer from DOS and load some disc cloning software. Can make image file to CD or other hard disc.

Fujifilm easy operation softwareThe trend toward increasingly high resolution digital cameras and high-capacity digital camera media demands ever-higher performance from Digital Minilab units. Photofinishers offering high-quality digital processing services need to minimize the burden on operators while simultaneously meeting a diverse array of customer requests for customized services. To meet these and other photofinishing needs, Fujifilm has developed a new suite of system software applications to enhance Digital Minilab Frontier operability and efficiency. The brand new Fujifilm Easy Operation Software (FE Software) offers a host of performance-enhancing features.Frontier performance featuresA simplified user interface combines Digital Imaging Controller and Film Scanner input screens, making it possible to offer the same level of functionality for both digital camera and film processing orders. This integrated input screen eases the burden on the operator and boosts efficiency in handling the increasing volume of digital processing requests. Installation of FE Software significantly boosts Digital Minilab Frontier digital print processing capacity, making it possible to handle high volume image produced by the latest digital camera models.Enhanced image processingImage Intelligence Ver. 2.5 offers enhanced image processing functions, such as fully automatic red-eye detection and correction, ensuring high-quality photo prints to satisfy the most demanding customers. Incorporating an array of functions to ensure high-quality and enhanced efficiency, FE Software is conceived to increase the scope and profitability of photofinishing services in today's competitive digital print processing market.

Imaging Controller DIC IIThe DIC II is a fully integrated system controller for all Frontier operations. Print orders from film and digital media can be tracked and processed on a single screen, enhancing productivity and reducing waiting time. And with the addition of optional software, the DIC II makes it possible to expand the Frontier system to meet demand for a diverse range of specialized print services.

Here's the really cool part: If you shoot raw files, you can change your mind about what Film Simulation you want to use after the fact! Pressing the menu button in playback mode will present you with a RAW processing function built right into the camera itself. Switching between different film types on your computer takes just a few mouse clicks with the company's bundled X RAW STUDIO or RAW FILE CONVERTER EX software, and many popular third-party applications like Capture One and Lightroom also support Fuji's film simulation profiles as well. (Although as we'll discuss below, these third-party versions don't produce identical results to what the camera does; the only software solution that provides exact matches to the camera's own conversions is X RAW STUDIO, which actually uses the camera's processor to perform the conversion.)

With all that as background, we're finally equipped to see clearly just what makes the various Film Simulations unique, and how they vary from each other. We'll look at the details of how each one handles color, and then see how that plays out in some specific images. In all cases, we'll be looking at what the cameras themselves produce, whether directly in-camera or through Fuji's X RAW STUDIO software. (It turns out third-party RAW converter programs don't precisely match what the cameras do, even if they appear to offer the same options for simulating film. We'll cover this issue in some detail at the end, once we've looked at the various Film Simulations themselves.)

The reason i did not post the question immediately is i am a little bit worried people will jump in with absolutely no knowledge of the frontier minilabs, suggesting all kinds of things irrelevant or not applicable. No offence but it happens in forums like these.

The density problem is perhaps more contrast rellated and is inherent to old frontier software versions. It can be solved if you specifically ask to do so and lab-operator has knowledge on the subject.

I would not compare a frontier scanning-unit to a nikon ls-4000. Totally different league ;-). Looking at dslr's i would not necessarily declair them superior to film, only different, and faster. Image characteristics are totally different. (An Dig).

This software designed by Noritsukoki ( not Fuji ). That's the reason why no new versions. Noritsu printer ( the same software, but working on Noritsu application ) has version 16. Would be good to have additional software too. For example - only to install MS16 you can work with 6 frames at the same time. Without it you have print frame by frame only. Instead it can use FrontMan for film scanning. It is that all Fuji 7xxx are made by Noritsu and just painted green - white. All minilab hardware the same. E controller has many additional software too. Can write, if need it. If I where you I'd choose Noritsu software. Also have additional software. Also have all MS01 set ( software and manuals, optional MS software ( with manuals too ). As I told before upgraded versions available for Noritsu branded minilabs only. When we are talking about Noritsu made these most important quality improvements: Anyway printed files will be transferred to printing server running MS01. MS12 is for Windows. Maybe try to share on Windows installed printer and use it on MAC ( as network printer ). Anyway I didn't try do it myself. Noritsu print driver ( working through EZ controller ) can be installed on Windows or MAC. This software designed by Noritsukoki ( not Fuji ). That's the reason why no new versions. 1 Software for XP but we succeded in sending print order FROM AN EXTERNAL PC WORKSTATION to the first set of 370 ONLY recognized on the network. We want one operator to operate (sending print orders) to multiple 370 machines. You should ask support them. When I sell something always explain how to install, guide buyer or sometimes help to install using Teamviewer. MS01 is enough to connect few minilabs. All other software optional. I'd recommend add MS16 at least ( 6 frame view ). What other software do can read on my post above. Fuji recommends scanner names EZPC00, EZPC01, EZPC02, etc. All they should be on the same WORKGROUP ( have change from default MICSGROUP ). IP should be individual for each minilab. To rename have disable Fuji software autorun ( start holding shift ). Then can change computer name, working group and IP. Click left on My computer and there can change name and group. On network settings change IP and mask. Fuji recommended 192.168.1.x and 255.255.255.0. So, if he decided to ask YOU about the features of MS01 - it is his right. Your explanations are always very detailed and I also read them and have a lot of useful. Thank you for them too. I am exporting to a PIC running a new operating system (windows 7 I think. You should ask support them.
