X-Plane comes with subsonic and supersonic flight dynamics, sporting aircraft from the Bell 206 Jet-Ranger helicopter and Cessna 172 light plane to the supersonic Concorde and Mach-3 XB-70 Valkyrie. X-Plane comes with about 40 aircraft spanning the aviation industry (and history), and several hundred more are freely downloadable from the internet.

X-Plane scenery is world-wide, with scenery for the entire planet Earth AND MARS! (thanks to the Mars Orbiting Laser Altimeter, which mapped that planet's elevation) You can land at any of over 18,000 airports, as well as test your mettle on aircraft carriers, helipads on building tops, frigates that pitch and roll in the waves, and oil rigs.

While X-Plane is the world's most COMPREHENSIVE flight sim, your purchase also comes with Plane-Maker (to create your own airplanes) World-Maker (to create your own scenery), and Weather Briefer (to get a weather briefing before the flight if you use real weather conditions downloaded from the net).

Within XP11, I've now setup all of my planes with X-Camera and find its features very useful and functional. Flying these simulators for me is more than just programming the FMC and adjusting the autopilot. I like to look around at scenery and watch how my plane is flying approaches from all different angles. I've mapped my joystick and mouse to move around the cockpit effortlessly to control the plane, and the new mini-panel is great for selecting specific views without having to cycle through them. I thought XP10 and XP11's built-in camera system was simple and easy; but X-Camera really enhances the total experience that most of us are looking for in a flight sim. I made a donation to the developer to get the registered version because this is a must-have tool for me.

There is nothing illegal about using BitTorrent for this purpose and it is very safe. If you are new to BitTorrent, I would recommend the qBittorrent client ( ) , which is an excellent, open source, BitTorrent client. It is very simple to use and doesn't come with any spyware or anything like that.

Question: I have a Mac and have problems with converting files, torrent client, etc.Answer: Unfortunately, I'm not a Mac person and cannot offer any help on Mac issues. It does seem like Macs have some difficulty with the process in general. Try posting your question in the Comments section and maybe someone else can help you.

For just the Great Lakes area it was around 30gb of files. I have a fairly new computer. A ryzen 3600 (12 logical cores), 2070 nvidia video card and a 100mb internet connection. It took me an hour to download the torrent, about 20 minutes to unzip and transfer the files and 2 hours to convert all the images. I would warn someone thinking of doing this that means your computer is going to run balls to the wall for 2 hours or more. If your computer doesn't run really stable or has issues with heat I would suggest solving those problems first or this is going to be a nightmare. And you probably won't be playing any games or anything while it doing it. And if you think you are going to do the whole United States you better have a good, decent sized drive to dedicate to it and a LOT of time lol. I was going to add California and Nevada too since I used to live there too and I like flying in that area. Not so sure now after considering the time and hard drive space required. I am guessing that is going to be 3 times the time and space. I might just make do until FS2020 comes out.

Performance wise it didn't effect my FPS at all, it actually went up a little in some areas. I installed it on a fresh version of the X Plane 11 steam version with no mods. I flew the same flight plan with the same plane before and after the mod. I was getting like 50 to 100 fps before and between 60 and 100 after. Plenty considering I lock it at 30 fps when I actually play it. I did notice it has some micro stutters that it didn't have before though. I will try to tune them out and if I can't it isn't anything I can't live with. My settings are pretty high though. I know it seems like I am whining, and I don't want to come accross that way. I am just giving my honest opinion. The truth is this is FREE for crying out loud! It looks and works better than some stuff I paid good money for in FSX, and was easier to install. If you have the time and hard drive space it is worth at least trying out one area to see if you like it.

Absolutely terrific job. After trying one file out I bought a 4TB hard drive and have downloaded all the scenery (but am still rendering all of them) and have my torrent client hosting the files on a backup computer 24/7 to pay back the community. Thanks so much!

Great project. Looking forward to the color corrected versions, I see a lot of "pink" where there should be blacks or grays (use mainly mid-West). I've torrent downloaded 26Gb and seeded over 900Gb back to community and will keep doing it!

I've been waiting to upgrade my Mac to Big Sur from Catalina as I've read of some initial problems with Big Sur and Xplane 11 - then I read that some folks say its fine. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this yet? I've searched the forums but seems like you read both versions, so I am hoping for some user experiences or pointing me to a discussion stream on this with knowledgeable people.

I started this topic because everything in xplane runs great with Catalina, and I didn't want to change that by upgrading to Big Sur...but I use my computer for other things, and like to keep the OS upgraded, so thats the reason for the question. But I have not had any issues with Catalina other than the usual one with dealing with the gatekeeper system, which is usually easily overcome.,

1. When you instal (or u[date, replace, etc) a file with a new plugin you will get a popup while xplane load- it will say something about an unrecognized file (usually Mac.xpl) and give you the option to "cancel;" or "send file to trash" (sometimes a variation).

To help smooth things out, choose any Mac.xpl file and right click "get information"- on that menu box that pops up, if not already clicked, select "open with" and choose x-plane- use this application to open all documents like this one.

The X-Plane panorama package covers the Earth in a stunning dedication from 74 N to 60 S. On the ground, buyers can access any of more than 33,000 air stations or check backbone on a plane carrying warships and oil platforms.

I have a three monitor setup with the monitors normally running 4k. When I then try to start up X-plane, it looks fine for about one second until the screen resolution is changed, as I have X-plane setup to run at 1080p. Then my center screen goes black and my side monitors shows the windows desktop.

What seems to happen is that when the screen resolution, all three windows started by X-plane gets placed on top of each other on the center screen, because I can see three windows when I click on X-plane in the taskbar. Two black and one with the menu thumbnail. However, when I try to select the one with the menu thumbnail, x-plane is often killed by Windows for not responding.

Also, there was a couple times where I would open up Xplane and even load into a location with just ocean. The frames would say like 150 but It was acting like I had 0.5 FPS, not just a normal stutter. Thanks! 2ff7e9595c
